Place making at Elephant Park
This amazing piece of public realm enhancement and place making has just opened on Sayer Street, SE17 as part of Lendlease building a community at Elephant Park, London.
Rawls were commissioned to design and (with our furniture partners Working Environments) produce bespoke furniture concepts for two site specific seating areas to create sense of place and encourage hanging out and being social. Our furniture sits within the overall architectural concept by Jan Kattein Architects, landscaping by BD Landscape and lighting by Michael Grub Studio. Team working at its best.
The first area is a low level oversized shared table with stools that can be locked in-situ overnight. The second area has a long high bench facing out to allow people to watch the world go by from. Individual tables with flexible chairs behind, all in colours that complement the finishes of the maker space huts adjacent. All our bespoke furniture is built up in marine ply and stained black to express the grain. We pick out the Elephant Park, London logo at key points to tie the whole design together.
